Hate Friday

It was not the night of the underDogs... Most of the favourites won.

Dinner was @ clementi. Waited for 30 min for a cab which crawled @ 60-80km/h... Cost me extra $ and time... Compared to yesterday's "Woodland-Jurong" Express.......

Working HARD

Woke up @ 6am to work from home. Barely slept for 5 hrs.

Made my way to Bugis Area to get some stuff… interesting =p
KElantan Road~

And guess what I found!

Got to office around 11 and before I know it, it was time for lunch. Today is lunch @ UE Square. Meeting up with Eliz after such a long time. Ate @ the Ba Ku Teh which is a must place to go when I was still roaming the streets of M.S. for alcohol… Sigh, feel so old already.

Back to office for some work completion.

Dinner was the famous Char Kway Teoh @ Margaret Drive. Cheap & Good…

And yes, the number that was sold out, came in consolation in the Wednesday Lottery… I am so unlucky…

Looking forward to Chelsea Vs Barcelona…

Yawn~

I am begining to feel bored of work. There are so many paperwork to double check and triple check.

Lunch was @ One George Street with Janice. Looks like everyone else is doing not bad.
Rushed for a meeting. Boy, I stinked. The smoky smell stinked up my shirt. Wasted so much of my hugo deodourant spray.

Tea with Javier & Suan was another exciting experience. Javier was having another go at his project people again. Issues on the coffee table were

  1. why are some requirements so crappy written? How do you expect the developers to understand and build what you want?!
  2. Emails were not read. Then, when incidents happen, people come and point and blame. Lucky for the email black and white
  3. Timeline were not followed. Things that are due yesterday were only looked at today.

It seems that such problems are very common and are always documented in project management books. I asked him to buy one for his boss.

Suan was having a go @ funds. Blah Blah Blah... Read the fine print etc etc...

Don't feel well around 6 and made a beeline for home.

No Title

A slow but busy start to the week. Couldn't wait for lunch to come. When it came, I had vegetarian with Xu Jun, who is one of the vendors from Shanghai EBAO. Check it out below... he was telling me his galfriend had been burning his RMB in Singapore =p Anyway, it seems to me that most china chinese do not like coconut based stuff like curry, laksa, nasi lemak etc.

It was back to work in the afternoon. Heard that an IPO is coming up... so a late break @ 5pm was set with Suan & Javier. Check out Suan @ AH POH~

Javier was telling us that this morning he went to DBS bank opposite Hong Lim to bank a cheque. There, he saw a very pretty customer service officer which is like a barbie gal =) let's check that out tomorrow =p. Suan just smoked more.

Back to office, the mail server is still very crappy. Nothing goes out, nothing comes in. Looks like I won't be getting any replies...

Got a nice encourgement from the client today for going the extra mile in my work. Happened that they were chasing me for the stuff and I had to let them know that my hours had been used for other tasks assigned from the top and that this is my own idea etc etc. They were rathered surprised but nevertheless glad I am taking up some extra stuff to ensure delivery. I suggested to them that thanking me is great but it will be greater to drop my lead an email =p hee hee.

Make my trip to Jurong East Library and then caught some dinner. Then grabbed a cab and went back for 2 hrs of TV. Ah..............

Gone~

Its confirmed. The fried kway teoh stall @ my place has closed down due to some quarrels. I have just lost my favourite local jurong food...

In the end, I sub it with Nasi Lemak.

Dinner was @ Boon Lay Place. (What to do? Nothing else nice to eat around my place). I had BBQ Stingray and chilli kangkong. Only $12! Cheap! This would have cost me over $20 @ Newton last night...

Home to catch some TV. The JACKY show @ 9 on Channel U is really very crap... but nice... =p

Newton Hawker Centre

Woke up early to wait for a delivery which was 3 hrs late. I was utterly pissed & hungry. Went over to JP to have my hair cut and pop by KFC for a 2 piece meal. Food tastes so good when you are hungry...

After some thunder showers and a nap and a detour to Far East, it was dinner @ Newton Hawker Centre. It was quite shocking. There were so many seafood BBQ stalls and drinks stall. It was like 1 after another. Other choices were rare but I made my choices

Then it was black sesame ice-cream @ island creamy (Serene Centre), wow: from a small shop to now a cafe. Making big $$$ from ice-cream. And @ next table, was an old friend from hwachong. What a small world.

Damn it, liverpool won~ Lost a TP~ Sianz. Poor Alan Smith.

$1000 gone with the wind

Because I was too lazy to queue up for 4D on wednesday, I lost the 2nd Prize. This is not the first time my laziness caused me my windfall... sigh...

Work... skipped

Suan made his debut @ MR TEH TARIK! Look @ how he is mesmerized by the coffee...

A long team meeting and meeting of the NEW PM.

Terrible Thursday

Work = Arrows & Shit. Enough Said.

Felt so irritated that I spent quite a bit @ sushi tei to keep myself happy.

Javier was telling me & suan about his project problems.
  1. There are too many "smokers"
  2. These "smokers" think they are damn smart and that they can smoke everyone, when in actual fact, their skills are so bad that people see through them almost immediately.
  3. When all else fails, they just say I Don't Know. How would I know?

Javier was saying that with team mates like these, who needs competitors!?

Work ended a bit late. Was too hungry to go elsewhere and eat and pop by the chicken rice downstairs. The boss was so friendly and talkative that it was like a sin not to talk to him.

Met up an friend (who was also my student back in my honours year when I was a tutor) for tea. Brings back the memories of my first lesson when I sat right @ the last row and did my tutorials while waiting for class to start and all my students then thought I was one of them...

Old already...

Beezy Wednesday

Reached office only to realized the meeting @ 10 was postponed to Thurs...

Anyway, cleared lots of emails in the morning... can't imagine there is so much to clear...

The hectic work carried on till five... by then most of us had arrows sticking out of our backs...

I can't wait to escape... my back has been aching since monday... looks like I am aging...

S.O.A

Woke up and flaged a cab to Changi Village. What luck, this driver is super-safe, constantly going @ 80km/h on the ECP... In the end, i ended up 10 mins late.

Information overload... my brain can't take all the materials that are coming in. SOA is the in-thing. Looks like there are lots of things to learn and read up if I want to grow myself in this field.

Lunch was "yes, i would prefer the NaSI Lemak".

Finally, with my eyes closing or even closed, brain shut-down... it ended...

Tired. On my way out of Changi Village, I snapped a few pictures. This seems to be a good place... lots of places to eat, got a taxi call center, shops, clubs... a nice quiet place to spend the wkend I suppose.

Training @ Changi Hotel

Today is training day.

Hopped onto a cab and buzzed all the way to from Jurong West to Changi Village Hotel. $23 for 1 hr of sleep, I think pretty worth it.

The training was like a family gathering from my point of view where most of the IBMers from BCS -Application Innovation came back from their respective projects for a sort of reunion training.

Lunch was so - so... I would have seriously prefer the nasi lemak @ changi village market... 2 more cups of coffee followed...

Six it ended.
It was a day of lost and found.

Went to Bugis for Steam Boat.

Took Cab back. Total CAb expense ~ $50 today. Sigh... there goes all my earnings today. But point to note is that I am 'bluer' today, there were so many technical new terms, old terms refreshed, new ideas, new innovation... Refresh!

Sickly Sunday

Still Sick.
Slept the entire morning...

Cooked some fried rice...

Time to sleep. Training tomorrow.

Sickly Saturday

My sorethroat is getting to me...
finding hard to swallow...
Slept till 1, woke up for Breakfast or Lunch?

A lazy afternoon... nap and nap... Dinner was some food which i find un-eat-able... perhaps it was too hard to swallow... Went back for some birdnest... finally some eat-able stuff...

Catching some EPL action...
  1. I love bolton...... winning @ Arsenal~ ha!
  2. BORO not bad too winning 2-0 against Chelsea...
  3. Hope Man Utd beats Portsmouth later...

Friday, February 10, 2006

Finally Friday

Friday Yeah, I strike 4D on Wed. I-BET. $6 was my winnings. Okay its little but better than nothing right? I dreamt of this number okay!

Perhaps should have bet more? Maybe the TOTO tonight will have more earnings for me! $10 million the big prize. So many people queueing up...

Anyway a busy morning. Here there everywhere. Arrows all over the place.

Quick Lunch @ Toast. Like their Tofu Salad but pricey $5.25 for pumpkin cubes, tofu cubes, sliced onions and some greens. Should have taken a picture.

More work with excel. Here there everywhere.

Went to City Center for a while. Dinner was simply thai which stinks up my entire shirt. Rushed home to shower.

Okay, 10 million is not mine. Sigh. Feet back on the floor.

Not Well... Flu awaits...

Luo Hei!

A highly awaited thursday.

The CNY Team Lunch. We had 2 tables. It was a suppose to be a joyous event. The Yu Sheng was good, everyone had fun tossing the stuff around. Linda and Choon huat came back. I brought my new Nikon to take pics and video. But heck, the food was bad, the fish was terrible and by the 4th dish, everyone dun feel like eating. To think this is actually Mouth Kitchen... At the end, we decided to go back to YAN Palace the next time we want chinese food. And when the bill came, we jumped. A cup of tea (By per head) cost $1.80+++ Towel $1.00+++ and let's not talk about the service, other than the guy that serves us the Yusheng who said so many wonderful phrases, the rest are like.... you know.... we are not going back there again. Anyway, check out the pictures. I think MOV clips are too big for me to upload. Will find a way though.

Crappy Wednesday

Wednesday was crap. Pure crap. Work was crap. People were crap.

And I am not alone. Suan was laughing again. Javier was complaining about his work again. "Why don't bosses open their ears and listen ? They keep asking the same question!" As usual, Suan the Enlightened one will say "That's why they are bosses." Sounds profound, but I think if Javier's boss can be a boss, there is definately hope for Javier in his company and advised him against quitting. Suan as usual again was skeptical.

Had dinner Mad Flemings by Boat Quay. Check out the mini picture.

A Tired Tuesday

Woke up, tired.

Off to work. Boss Kei is back. Welcome back.

Other than in more discussions which are strictly confidential, was preparing for the Team Lunch that was coming up on Thursday. After much effort, the 20 of us are heading to Mouth Kitchen for our CNY Team Lunch @ $338+++ per table. Going to make the reservation tomorrow...

After lunch was more discussion... had to keep thinking... tea break was better. Ah Poh Ice Kopi Si cost $1 each! Suan was blabbing about china milk stocks and candy stocks. Javier was again talking idiots. Finally we agreed on something: striking rich in Toto... 10 million coming up this friday.

More work...

Dinner @ Jurong East's Boon Lay Raja Shark Fin & Seafood Resturant. I love that smiling buddha... rub that tummy and make me rich!

A Hectic Monday

The morning started with me chasing signatures for signed off documents as well as preparing myself for more discussions with users on the other documents.

In the afternoon, it was discussions and more discussions.

Had one with Suan too regarding China Lifestyle over a cup of coffee. Suan was telling us that working in Blah Blah Blah will prevent Javier from working with idiots. And true enough, when Javier arrived, he began to tell us that he was working with idiots and blabbing all the craps about agreements between his users and his requirements team but left his team which is the developing team out of the picture. Interestingly, his team is safe as they were following proper procedures and documentations. The agreements obviously were not updated into the designs! What a screw up! A nice analogy: They were talking about a rocket to the moon but we were developing a submarine for deep sea exploration. Maybe Suan was RIGHT about the idiots part after all...... =p

Anyway that 90 cent ice kopi @ Golden Shoe Market is damn value for money. Ah Poh smthing, Suan's favourite. I nearly puked from kopi overdosage.

Time for a cup of milk and zzzzzz

Journey to the North East - Punggol - Home of Jackson

I knew it was going to be a long day ahead of me. A long trip awaits me. A trip to Punggol. It was the first time I am visiting Jackson after he moved further up north while I moved further west. I couldn't get a cab (as expected, so its back to the train service.)

1) Look @ that punggol MRT & LRT station, looks more like a space station in the middle of nowhere.
2) Flats lined up neatly beside the LRT railways.
3) Blk 114, reached!

Activities like greeting aunty and uncle, eating junkies, talking crap, and 21 points followed. Jackson was the biggest winner of us all. Time for a few pictures.

Zann's Birthday

A lazy day to start with me waking up @ 12 followed by a bowl of LAKSA.

After much delays, it was time to go to my niece's Birthday Party. Yes she is called Zann. Sounds familiar =p

Lots of relatives were already there when I reached. It was @ Taman Jurong. Look @ the pictures I took of all my nieces.

Left most is Zann the birthday gal, who loves ELMO, should have bought her that instead of Pooh Bear...

Anyway, Dinner followed. I took a picture with dear grandpa, already 90+

After more picture taking and chatting, it was time to go home. In between, a stop @ Taman Jurong S11 for a quick snack. Sleepy... zzzzzz

Back To Great Eastern!

A slow start to Friday.

It is back to work after 2 extra days of rest from 2005 leave. 6 more to get rid off before I can utilized my 2006~

Lots of emails pending replies & some action items. Same old stuff. No Sweat.Lunch was a "fufilling" experience to my tummy. A Yusheng, some sushi, some fruit juice & now i felt like a oversized airbag.

Cleared 50+ reports requirements. 250 more to go.

After a day of work, it was a quick trip to kiddy palace to get a gift for my niece for her 1st birthday. After choosing and matching, a soft toy and a dress for her. I wanted to get piglet but there wasn't a nice one...

My Army Supervisor

A visit to my SSG Tan who is now a WO2.

Things are still very much the same in his family except that the kids are older. Reminds me... I am ageing too. Damn it.

He is going for oversea posting in Taiwan in March. Hope he enjoys the 1 year there. I never had the chance to go any oversea detachments then... budget cuts and all... No Australia, No South Africa, No Taiwan...

Took Cab back again. Dinner @ the seafood stall @ my place. YUCKS. Some things never change.
